connectivism
A theory of learning associated with George Siemens and Stephen Downes which emphasises the connectivity and social situatedness of learning. Learners are connected to each other, knowledge also resides in objects that are interconnected and connected to people. Learning happens when people connect and knowledge is created rather than given. A few years ago course organisers started giving lectures to ignite and shape discussions (Alec Couros"Social media in education", 2013).
